About Darrin

For nearly three decades, Darrin Palumbo has proudly called Marco Island home. As a husband, father, small business owner, and current Chairman of the Marco Island City Council, he has dedicated himself to protecting the community that has given so much to his family.

Over the past four years, Darrin has worked to strengthen our city's financial future, improve water quality, protect our environment, support public safety, and preserve the unique character that makes Marco Island one of America's most extraordinary places to live.

Leadership isn't measured by

campaign promises.

It's measured by results.

Experience Matters.

Results Matter.

Marco Island Matters.

A Life Rooted
in Community

Marco Island has shaped Darrin Palumbo's life.

After visiting the island with his family in 1993, Darrin and his wife, Suzanne, fell in love with its natural beauty, peaceful lifestyle, and strong sense of community. Five years later, they made Marco Island their permanent home, where they have lived for the past 28 years while raising their two children, Jenna and Ryan.

Like so many residents, Darrin understands that Marco Island is more than just where we live—it's where we’ve built our lives.

That belief continues to inspire his service today.

Building on a Proven Record

Marco Island Sunset

Fiscal Responsibility

Marco Island has built a reputation for fiscal responsibility while maintaining one of Florida's lowest municipal tax rates.

Darrin is committed to responsible budgeting, transparent government, and long-term financial planning that protects taxpayers while investing in the infrastructure, public safety, and essential services that keep Marco Island strong.

Protecting Marco Island's Quality of Life

Marco Island's exceptional quality of life is what makes our island special. Preserving it requires thoughtful leadership, strong public safety, and balanced policies that protect our neighborhoods while respecting property rights.

Darrin strongly supports the Marco Island Police Department, believing a dedicated local police force provides the responsive, community-focused service residents expect.

He also supports a legally enforceable short-term rental ordinance, when permitted under state law, to address repeat nuisance properties while protecting responsible property owners.

By balancing neighborhood preservation, public safety, and a strong local economy, Darrin is committed to protecting the character and quality of life that make Marco Island home.

Clean Water

Clean water is essential to Marco Island's environment, quality of life, and future. Darrin remains committed to implementing Advanced Wastewater Treatment (AWT) while pursuing additional solutions that improve canal health and water quality throughout the island. Protecting our waterways requires long-term planning, regional collaboration, and continued investment to preserve one of Marco Island's greatest natural assets for future generations.

Investing in Our Community

A strong community is built on more than infrastructure and budgets—it is built on people.

Darrin believes in investing in the next generation through youth programs, recreational opportunities, and community initiatives that encourage children and families to stay active, connected, and engaged. His decades of volunteer service, coaching youth athletics, mentoring young people, and supporting local organizations reflect a lifelong commitment to giving back.

Whether it's supporting local nonprofits, encouraging opportunities for our youth, or strengthening the organizations that bring neighbors together, Darrin believes investing in people is one of the best investments a community can make.

"By investing in people as well as projects, we help ensure Marco Island remains not only a wonderful place to visit, but an extraordinary place to call home."

Preparing Marco Island for Tomorrow

Marco Island is entering a new chapter in its history. As our homes, businesses, condominiums, and public infrastructure continue to age, we have an opportunity to thoughtfully reinvest in our community while preserving the character that makes our island so special.

Darrin believes responsible redevelopment should strengthen our resilience against hurricanes, flooding, king tides, and coastal erosion while protecting both property owners and our environment.

Preparing for tomorrow also means embracing practical innovation. Darrin supports the responsible use of Smart City technology to improve traffic flow, modernize city services, strengthen emergency preparedness, and make local government more efficient and responsive. Practical technology can improve everyday life while helping Marco Island prepare for future challenges.

By investing in resilient infrastructure, thoughtful redevelopment, and modern technology today, Marco Island can remain one of Florida's safest, most beautiful, and best-managed communities for generations to come.

Endorsements & Support

Darrin Palumbo is honored to have the support of community leaders, local organizations, and neighbors who share his vision for Marco Island's future.

"I have enjoyed getting to know Marco Island City Council Chair Darrin Palumbo and discussing with him issues affecting our communities. Darrin is deeply committed to the people he serves and to making his community stronger, and I am pleased to endorse Darrin Palumbo for re-election to the Marco Island City Council."

John Dailey

Mayor of Tallahassee

"Having served on the Marco Island City Council and as its chair, I understand how valuable experience is when difficult decisions come before the Council. That is why I am proud to endorse Council Chair Darrin Palumbo for re-election. When Darrin was first elected, he joined six returning councilors and learned from their years of service. By the end of this year, Darrin will be the only current councilor to have served a full four-year term. That continuity matters. Darrin knows the issues, understands how the Council works and is prepared to help newer members find their footing. Just as importantly, he listens to all sides and looks for practical compromise that serves Marco Island as a whole. His experience and steady leadership will be especially important in the years ahead. I strongly support Darrin Palumbo’s re-election to the Marco Island City Council."

Greg Folley

Former Marco Island City Council Chair

“I have known Darrin for over 20 years. He loves Marco Island, has run a business, raised his children and has volunteered his time and talent to make Marco the best it can be. The people of Marco Island should wholeheartedly vote him back into office for 4 more years!”

Terri Ballo

Former Marco island City Councilor

"As Marco Island voters prepare to elect our next City Council, I'd like to encourage everyone to take a close look at three candidates who I believe have the experience and leadership our city needs at this time.

I believe that Darrin Palumbo has earned another term through his collaborative leadership and “can-do” attitude as Council Chair. His financial expertise, business background, and commitment to our community have helped move important initiatives forward.

Jason Bailey brings strong business experience and a proven record of public service as Planning Board Chair. He understands the city's zoning and development issues and approaches problems with common sense and sound judgment. His experience is needed on council.

Chris Ricci offers an impressive combination of executive leadership and public service. His work on the Beach and Coastal Resources Committee and the Audit Advisory Committee has given him valuable experience in both environmental stewardship and fiscal oversight. With a background in law and engineering, he has the right skills for the job.

Marco Island deserves leaders who are prepared to make thoughtful, informed decisions from day one. I believe Darrin Palumbo, Jason Bailey, and Chris Ricci are the best choice, and I encourage my fellow residents to support them on Election Day."

Melodee James

Marco island Resident

“Darrin Palumbo deserves re-election to the Marco Island City Council. Simply stated, he has earned it. During his first term on Council, his work has resulted in meaningful improvements that have benefited the citizens of our island.

In the area of fiscal responsibility, he has helped keep Marco among Florida’s lowest-taxed municipalities while maintaining an AA bond rating. Public safety has been a key priority, demonstrated by his steadfast support of our Police Department. Marco citizens have voiced strong concerns about our water quality, and Darrin has supported advanced wastewater treatment and responsible stewardship of our waterways.

He helped return Conservation Collier funding to preserve environmentally sensitive areas in our city. He has secured beach renourishment funding and supported responsible redevelopment that protects the character of our island.

Clearly, Darrin is a dedicated public servant who has worked hard to improve the quality of life for Marco citizens. He has a proven record on Council.

Let’s keep him working for us.”

Joe Batte

Former Marco Island City Councilor

“I am proud to endorse Darrin Palumbo for reelection to the Marco Island City Council. His dedication to water quality for the past 25 years has been instrumental in moving our community forward.”

A Letter to My Fellow Islanders

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

For nearly 30 years, Marco Island has been home to my family. It is where we've built our lives, raised our children, grown our business, and formed friendships that mean the world to us. Serving you on the Marco Island City Council has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

I'm seeking another term because I believe there is still important work to do. Together, we've made meaningful progress, but we must continue protecting our waterways, investing in resilient infrastructure, maintaining our financial strength, supporting public safety, and preserving the exceptional quality of life that makes Marco Island so special.

Every decision I've made has been guided by one simple question: Will this leave Marco Island better for the next generation? That commitment has guided me over the past four years, and with your support, it will continue to guide me for the next four.

Thank you for your trust, your friendship, and the opportunity to serve this remarkable community. I would be honored to earn your vote and continue working on behalf of the island we are all proud to call home.

Sincerely,

Darrin Palumbo
